If you missed it the first time, Cabaret at the Polk is back for six more shows! Outstanding area artists, Brian Sutherland, Craig Morby, Sarah Machinia, Kimberly Milton and Sharon Clark present original arrangements of the music of Johnny Cash as you’ve never heard it before. Cabaret-style seating on stage makes this show unique and intimate.

January 7, 13 & 14 at 7:00 Pm and 10:00 PM each night.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.polktheatre.org, by phone at 863-682-7553, or at the Theatre office located at 139 South Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33801.

There is a $3 handling/facility fee per order.

Open Mic Night Contestants Needed

As a part of Black & Brew’s 5th Anniversary Celebration we are relaunching our open mic night…. with a twist. Black & Brew’s “One Mic Stand” will be an open mic competition in which six contestants will compete for a $100 cash prize. We are holding auditions for our competition on March 6th from 6 – 9p.m. at Black & Brew, 205 East Main Street, Downtown Lakeland. There are 20 audition time slots, so if you or somebody you know are interested in participating, call today and reserve your time: 863.682.1210. We are looking for all kinds of talent: Musicians, Vocalists, Spoken Word and even Comedians.

We are also looking for volunteers to serve as judges on competition night (Thursday, March 17th). For owner of music schools, recording studios, or talent agencies: this could be a great opportunity to connect with potential customers. Four judges will independently score the contestants based on four criteria. The contestant with the most accumulated points between the four judges will win. You will have an opportunity to introduce yourself and make a plug for your business or organization if you so choose. I’ll even buy your dinner.

This is a new event for us, so if you have any suggestions or leads, I’m all ears.
