Downtown continues the holiday festivities with a “Cookies and Carols” theme at the December First Friday. Come down and enjoy holiday music and entertainment, visits with Santa and so much more.

Plus, it’s a great time to work on that holiday shopping list as shops are open late. Don’t forget to stop and get a little something – or a big something – to eat at one of Downtown’s fabulous restaurants. Maybe you’ll pick up an idea or two for your holiday party.

New Advent Boxes at Traditions Unlimited

You remember, it just seemed like Christmas would never come! The tiny window of the advent calendar helped the you count down the days until the big event. At Traditions Unlimited, we have You Stuff It Boxes a delightful new style advent calendar. The box bottom is divided into 24 compartments where you place small delights like a tiny book or gold chocolate coins. Close the box with the colorful Christmas scene lid and the traditional numbered windows hiding the surprises until the special day they are revealed. Children are invited to this special Secret Shoppe. Gifts will be reasonably priced for children to purchase. Elves Shelves fun include a gift wrapping center.

Dr. Scissorhands Pumpkin Carving Exhibition – Oct. 29

Don’t miss the Annual “Dr. Scissorhands” Pumpkin Carving Exhibition at the Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market, where local doctors “operate” on innocent pumpkins. They create the coolest jack-o-lanterns that you can bid on to take home or give to a friend. Carving begins at 9:30 a.m. and the auction will begin at 11.

There will be a costume contest at 10:45. It’s simple: just show up in time for judging. You’ll also have a chance to vote on the best vendors’ costumes. Kids’ craft activities will be available.

Peace River Center will be present for this event on 10/29. They’ll have information on behavioral health services in our area, as well as information about recovery from mental illness and substance abuse. They’ll have FREE reusable grocery bags to give away to grown-ups, and for kids, FREE stickers and pinwheels! (Pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse prevention.)

All proceeds benefit Alliance for Independence. Special thanks to 98.3 MAX, the creative doctors, all our great vendors, and YOU!

Farmers Curb Market New Season Begins Sept. 3

We hope to see YOU this Saturday for our season opening 8 a.m. -2 p.m.! We have new and returning vendors, live music, ready-to-eat food and more! Who won the 1st Annual “Curbie” Award? Who won the awesome bolga basket filled with vendor goodies? Contest and prize winners will be announced at 10 a.m.!
