Explorations V Children’s Museum, a downtown Lakeland fixture for two decades now, will celebrate 20 years of hands-on, fun-filled adventures in learning at its 20th Birthday X-travaganza on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

The birthday party fun will run from 10am-3pm and will feature Radio Disney-AM 1380 from 10:30am to 12:30 pm! There’ll be hula-hooping fun, music, games and prizes not to mention three floors of kid-powered exhibits to explore!

All activities will be included with admission which is $7 per person. Senior citizens are $3.50. Children under two and museum members are free.

LAKELAND, FL (APRIL 6, 2011) –Explorations V Children’s Museum, located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in downtown Lakeland, will host the 30^th Annual Children’s Festival on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10am until 3pm. The festival will include art, science, music, big wheels, woodworking, water play, giant slide, balloon art and many other hands-on activities throughout nearby Munn Park. Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo Shows will be held at 11:00am and 12:45pm and the Mosaic Express Exhibit bus will be on hand.

The admission fee for the festival is $5 per person. Museum members are $4 per person. All activities are included with admission while supplies last. Low-cost, family friendly snack items will be available for purchase.

The festival is held annually in conjunction with the national “Week of the Young Child” and the statewide “Children’s Week” which focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families.

Parents, if you want to spend some time enjoying the DLP’s 2010 Holiday Walkabout on Tuesday, November 30, bring the kids to the museum with grandma, grandpa, Aunt Nell, Uncle Stew, the baby sitter (age 16 or older, please) or all of the above, for special half-price evening hours from 6pm to 8pm. As the calendar pages turn from spring to summer, Explorations V will be heating up with hands-on adventures in learning during its Summer Camps 2010!

Summer Camp 2010 will be held for nine weeks, June 14 through August 13. New this summer will be camps for children 4 & 5 years of age (Story Book Camp) as well as camps for 6-12 year olds (X5 Adventure Camp). Each camp includes weekly themed hands-on activities, museum exploration, outdoor play and snack creation. Story Book Camp will feature Beach Babies!, Movers & Shakers!, Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!, Mini-Cooks and more. X5 Adventure Camp includes sessions such as Get Fit!, Hollywood Producer!, Masters of Art and CSI X5: Crime Science.

Children can be registered for full day (9am-5pm) or half day (9am-1pm/1-5pm) camps. Full day pricing for museum members is $125 per child per week. The full day fee for non-members is $150 per child per week. Half day sessions are $65 per child per week for museum members and $80 per child per week for non-members. Sibling discounts are available. Early drop-off and late pick up can be arranged for an additional fee. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required to hold a place in camp.

Need a break from spring break? Then, Explorations V Children’s Museum, located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in downtown Lakeland, has just the answer…Spring Break Camps! Spring Break Camps will be held March 29-April 2, 2010 for children ages 5-12. Kids can be registered for the entire week or for individual days.

Full day sessions run 9am-5pm and half-days run 9am-1pm or 1-5pm. No matter which you choose, we’ll keep the kids busy with themed activities that include art, science, museum/outdoor exploration and more adventures in learning than you can ever imagine!

Full day pricing per child is $35 for museum members and $40 for non-members. Half-day pricing per child is $20 for museum members and $24 for non-members. If registering a child for the full week, the cost is $150 per child for museum members and $165 for non-members.

Early drop off/late pick up is available for an additional fee. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required to hold a space in camp.

After some cosmetic updates by Lyle Painting, it’s almost time for Micheal’s Carpet to begin carpet installation! Remember, Explorations V Children’s Museum will be closed from February 6-14 while we spruce up!

Want to create your own gingerbread house? Explorations V Children’s Museum is just the place to do it! Children of all ages-adults, too-can be as creative as their imagination allows!

Gingerbread House workshops will be held from 10am-noon and from 1-5pm December 21-23 and 28-30. The workshops are drop-in and the fee is $3 per house (plus museum admission of $5 per person). Museum members are not required to pay an admission fee.
