Independence Celebration

LAKELAND, FL (April 9, 2010) – The City of Lakeland is pleased to announce that the T.Mims Corp./Buyer’s Rep. Inc. Red, White & Kaboom Independence Celebration will take place at Lake Mirror on Saturday, July 3, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:20 p.m. with music and a breathtaking fireworks display dazzling the crowd at 9 p.m.

Tom Mims, President of T. Mims Corporation and Buyer’s Rep. Inc. said, “We are pleased to sponsor Red, White & Kaboom again this year.  It is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together in celebration of our great country and it is free to the public.” Mims added, “We will be continuing our Chow for Now canned food drive to benefit local food banks during these difficult times so we want each spectator to bring at least one can of food.”

The evening’s entertainment will include music from the popular band Williams Road.  The band’s five seasoned musicians bring an eclectic mix of experience and variety.  Their collective presence on the local music scene has enlivened some of the best music venues and downtown events in Lakeland over the last 10 years.  The band’s influences and set lists include a wide range of music from classics like the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Bob Marley and Billy Joel to newer material from U2, Coldplay, Train and Five for Fighting.  The band’s take on acoustic and rock favorites is sure to please the old and the young.

There will be a variety of food and drink vendors around Lake Mirror so bring a blanket and enjoy the live music and a dramatic display of fireworks over the lake.  The evening is free to the public and everyone attending is encouraged to bring at least one food item to benefit Chow for Now. All City parking garages will be open for T.Mims Corp./Buyer’s Rep. Inc. Red, White & Kaboom.

Activities and music along Kentucky Avenue including bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists, and kiddie train.  Come hungry and dine at one of Downtown’s many great restaurants.  Additional tables and chairs will be available along the streets for your dining convenience!
