Meet the Miss Florida Pageant Contestants This Weekend

Downtown Lakeland businesses will host more than 30 Miss Florida pageant contestants during a Meet the Contestants event on Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. This is in conjunction with Merry Leon.

The City of Lakeland will proclaim June 29 as Miss Florida Pageant Day in a ceremony at 9 a.m. on  June 29 at Lakeland City Hall  to commemorate the 81st Annual Miss Florida Pageant and Miss Florida’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, being held at The Lakeland Center’s Youkey Theatre June 28- July 2. All  pageant contestants will be present, along with County Commissioner Todd Dantzler and additional city and county officials. Afterward, a group photo will be taken to celebrate the event.

The Miss Florida Pageant is a preliminary competition to the Miss America Pageant which is the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of nation’s largest achievement programs. Forty-eight preliminary pageants have been held across the state since November, with the winners receiving a coveted invitation to compete for the Miss Florida Crown.
