Music on the Promenade

THE CENTRAL FLORIDA EUROCARS MUSIC ON THE PROMENADE
WILL FEATURE A VARIETY OF MUSICAL STYLES DURING THE 2008 SERIES

Lake Mirror Park will play host to a variety of musical styles as the Central Florida Eurocars Music on the Promenade starts the spring series on Friday, February 15, 2008 with Karasoul, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The monthly music series takes place at the Lake Mirror amphitheater which is between Hollis Garden and the Lake Mirror Center. The event is FREE to the public and families are encouraged to attend. There will be food and drink vendors on site so bring a blanket and enjoy the lake setting with music under the stars.

Karasoul (Rock/Pop) February 15, 2008

Karasoul can be described as a rock/pop/alternative act in the vein of Coldplay and Radiohead with obvious British influences and aged soulful melodies. In their debut EP "Never Grow Old" they offer their own slanted twists and takes on love, politics, and human suffering. It is all about the live show for Karasoul and taking it past the songs straight to the music. Formed in 2005 by Forrest Detwiler, Shaun Combs, Jeff Baker, and Joey Kirkland this quartet carries a huge sound and sweet takes on some classic songs like Come Together and Superstitious, not to mention their own music.

MillHopper (Rock) March 21, 2008

MillHopper has been playing in Lakeland for the past six years. They are definitely a rock band, with three guitar players, bass, keyboards, and drums. The current lineup is six guys whose musical backgrounds are as diverse as their collective personalities. If there is one constant, however, it is the desire to entertain people of all ages with music they know and love. The band thrives on the audience’s participation and loves an enthusiastic crowd. When you hear MillHopper, you will hear familiar sounds and songs that cover a range of music from the 60’s to the present day, and you can be sure of a few surprises that you weren’t counting on.

Uncle John’s Band (Grateful Dead Tribute) April 18, 2008

Uncle John's Band was formed in 1990 by a combination of talented musicians who love to play the music of the Grateful Dead. The purpose of Uncle John's Band is to recreate the atmosphere and musical adventure of a live Dead show. Over the past many years, Uncle John's Band has performed hundreds of shows full of musical energy and pleasure for all those who have attended. Over the last fifteen years the band has developed a loyal fan base in the thousands who enjoy the music, atmosphere, and experience of the Grateful Dead.

Michael Bell (Blues/Slide Guitar) on August 15, 2008

Michael Bell and his band will serve up some gritty roadhouse blues flavored with the southern spice of Bell’s slide guitar. Bell said, “I always look forward to playing in front of a hometown crowd.” He added, “I have got something special planned and I promise that it will be a great show.” Listeners will know they are dealing with an irreverent talent. By the time they have heard the funky "Mean To Me", the cool blues of "Miss Me When I'm Gone" to the heavy duty emotional blues of "Waiting On Love", the audience and their suspicions will be gloriously confirmed. There's a feel for Southern Blues, Allman Brothers style, and a full toned guitar style to match the aching blues vocal, and Michael isn't afraid to delve into Gospel, swing and beyond.

Impulse (Reggae) on September 19, 2008

The reggae band Impulse will whisk the audience away to a tropical paradise. Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, Impulse is hands-down one of the most popular reggae groups in Central Florida. Impulse has a huge repertoire of material, including all the favorites to traditional covers. They augment their original music with a blend of many different styles of Caribbean influences including reggae, soca and zouk. Impulse is a fun band that will definitely please the crowd. The music of Impulse is a tight, powerful mix of island styles from several Caribbean cultures and all members trade off singing and harmonize with ear-pleasing force.

The series will feature a special holiday concert in December 2008. The exact date and musical act will be announced in the very near future.
