Award-winning poet/playwright/novelist Diane Glancy reads poetry from her book “The Shadow’s Horse” at  Lakeland Public Library on Sunday, October 29 at 2 p.m. A Q & A session will follow.

Ms. Glancy is the author of 14 books in multiple genres: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and playwriting. Born to a Cherokee father and an English-German mother, she weaves her multiethnic identity and Christianity in her work, which explores diversity, identity and belonging, Native American experience and history, and Christianity. Ms. Glancy’s belief that “(w)riting is a conversation” impels her to give voice to individuals who are silenced historically. Using her writing to challenge and transform mainstream narratives of U.S. history, she examines the relationship between land, history, and storytelling. Sponsored by Southeastern University (SEU) and Lakeland Public Library, Ms. Glancy’s reading is part of a four-day residency, October 28 – October 31. For more info about her other SEU events, contact the SEU Department of Humanities at (863) 667-5113.
