Classes and Camps

Keep busy with fun activities provided by our DLP members:

• Florida Southern College Camps
FSC will be holding a number of sports camps, both day and overnight, for kids in Kindergarten through High School.
For information about a specific sport camp go to www.fscmocs.com and click on the specific sport then click on camps.
The following sports are holding camps this summer:
Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Cheerleading, Golf, Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Softball and Volleyball.

Polk Museum of Art – Summer Art Camp (www.PolkMuseumofArt.org)
Classes include drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and computer graphics.
All classes are held at the Polk Museum at 800 E. Palmetto St. Students may take up to three
classes per day during a session. Ages 5 – 13 • Cost per student per class:
$100 for PMoA members, $115 for non-members. Discounts are available when students take more than one class.
Session 1: June 8 – 19 Session 2: June 22 – July 3 Session 3: July 6 – 17
Session 4: July 20 – 31 Session 5: August 3 – 14

Florida Dance Theatre – Summer Youth Dance Camp
Includes a variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, acting, and art.
Ages 6 through 10
Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with Friday recitals for friends and family
Session 1: June 15 – June 26 Session 2: July 13 – 24
Tuition is $200 with scholarships available for students qualifying for the Polk County School Lunch Program.

FDT – Summer Dance Intensive Camp
Intensive instruction by Carol Erkes and Ferdinand De Jesus, nationally recognized dance
professionals will be teaching ballet, point and modern dance techniques.
Ages 10 and older
June 8 – 12, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Performance, Friday, June 12, 5:30 PM.

Lakeland Community Theatre
Call 863.603.7925 to register or download a form at www.lakelandcommunitytheatre.com.
Students in both programs will learn about audition techniques, movement and dance, voice, scene work, monologues, improvisation, and acting techniques. Before and after care are offered at a nominal fee. Students should bring lunch, although snacks will be provided.

YMCA Summer Day Camp
Children are offered a variety of experiences in a fun and exciting environment while emphasizing character development. Activities include art, group games, swimming, sports, special events, music and movement. We help build strong kids by exploring friendships, safety, literacy, math enrichment, healthy choices, physical fitness and community. Snacks are provided, but campers need to bring lunch unless otherwise notified. Specialty camps and Teen Leadership Camps are also available at both locations.

EXPLORATIONS V CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Explorations V Children’s Museum, located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in downtown Lakeland, will offer 10 weeks of Destination: X5 Adventure! Summer Camp beginning June 8 and running through August 14, 2009. Half-day (9am-1pm) and full day (9am-5pm) sessions will be offered. Destination: X5 Adventure! Summer Camp includes weekly themed activities, museum exploration, make your own snacks & outdoor play! Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Participants will need to provide their own lunch.

June 22-26 BFF’s Science Quest
June 29-July 3 Monster Week
July 6-10 Beach Week
July 13-17 Camping in the Great Indoors

Pricing is $85 per child, per week for half-days and $165 per child, per week for full days. Museum members pay $70 per

    Please advise any possibilties of sponsors for children who are not able to pay for some of the week day camps, full time. If you do not provide financial help with a needy child who could benefit tremendously from attending several of these camps, please advise if you know of any sources that may…….thank you very much.
