Explorations V Children’s Museum will be open for it’s Soar Skyward through Reading Scholastic Book Fair from 6pm-8pm during DLP’s First Friday to be held on March 2, 2012.

Kids need great books to encourage their love of reading and Explorations V is the place to get those books during the Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair will run March 2-8 and will be open 9am-5:30pm with the exception of March 2 when it will be open the noted evening hours.

There will be no admission charged for shopping the book fair.

Do you like Thing 1 and Thing 2? Maybe Green Eggs and Ham? What about the Cat in the Hat? Well, if the answer is yes to any of the questions, you’ll love Explorations V Children’s Museum’s Dr Seuss Celebration on Saturday, February 25 from 10am-3pm.

Explorations V will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with stories, snacks, art and special hands-on “Seussical” fun throughout the day. If you have a favorite Dr. Seuss costume, put in on and come on down! Kids of all ages will have a wonderful time!

All activities are included with museum membership or with the price of admission, which is $7 per person. Senior citizens 65+ are $3.50. Military and teachers with ID are also $3.50. Museum members and children under two are free.

Music by Sofa Kings and Disney World Jazzmen will be a part of the evening along with delicious food, cash bar and a silent auction! Tickets are $50 per person or $450 for ten and include two free drinks along with the live music and scrumptious food and hands-on fun in the Museum’s exhibits.

 Pink, pink, pink. More than anything, Pinkalicious loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents    warn her not to eat too many of them, but when Pinkalicious does . . . she turns pink! What to do? This  sparkling show based on the picture book, filled with such favorites as pink bubble gum, pink peonies, pink cotton candy, and pink fairy princess dresses, celebrates all things pink while showing that being yourself is best of all.

On Saturday, February 4^th Lemon Street in Downtown Lakeland will be the target of chalk artists young and old during the 1^st Annual Chalk for Charity Festival. Using chalk and liquid tempera as their medium and pavement as their canvas, professionals and novices will turn the streets of asphalt into an outdoor art display. The exhibitions will be located on Lemon Street between South Florida Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue. Sponsors are being sought for the available street spaces. There are three canvas size options (4ft x 4ft, 7ft x 7ft and 10ft x 10ft.  This is a great opportunity to have your company represented in a creative artistic way while supporting a great cause. The public will be able to purchase tokens to vote for their favorite art.  Additionally, there will be a Professional Award presented.  There will be a Children’s area where Parents and Grandparents can purchase small squares for them to display their budding talent.

The monies raised from this year’s event will go to fund Lakeland Knights of Columbus Global Wheelchair Mission and The Lakeland Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association which supports police academy scholarships and projects of the Lakeland Police Department. The global Wheelchair Mission provides wheelchairs to those in need around the world and since 2003 over 20,000 wheelchairs have been donated.

2012 It’s Just Comedy, an ItsJustCharity.org Event, on Friday, February 17 from 7pm to 10pm at the Hilton Garden Inn Lakeland at the Lakeland Linder Airport. Early Tickets $30.
