Beautiful Green Spaces

Downtown Lakeland offers a variety of sensory-satisfying activities in its many beautiful green spaces. From the Lake Mirror Promenade, Hollis Garden, and Barnett Park to the shores of Lake Morton, we believe Downtown Lakeland to be Florida’s finest urban space.

Here are some must-sees:

• Hollis Garden at Lake Mirror Community Park – A formal garden in the Neo-Classical European style featuring 1.2 acres with 10,000 flowers and ornamental shrubs and shade trees. Hollis Garden is open Tuesday – Sunday.  Call 603-6281 to arrange a free tour on weekdays or stroll around on your own anytime.

• Barnett Family Park at Lake Mirror Community Park – A children’s park open to the public with interactive fountain area, playground, labyrinth, covered picnic area, and public restrooms (603-6280).

• Lemon Street Promenade featuring a variety of sculptures from the Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition – Lemon Street between South Florida Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue.

• Albert Paley’s “Tribute to the Spirit of Volunteerism” – The sculpture is located at the Lake Mirror Community Park.

• Florida Southern College – Frank Lloyd Wright’s largest one-site collection of architecture.
111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive.

• Lake Morton – Home to swans, geese and other birds, Lake Morton is the entry way into the historic neighborhoods of Downtown Lakeland. Pack a lunch and plan a picnic, stroll the shores or feed the birds.

• Munn Park – This town square had been restored to reflect its original design, with a public fountain, shade trees and park benches. Perfect for reading a book or just taking it all in!

• Lake Mirror Promenade – Dedicated in 1928 and officially named the Frances Langford Promenade in 1946, the walk around Lake Mirror is the symbol of Lakeland for many residents. On the National Registry of Historic Places, the neoclassic promenade is the city’s center.

Just a small observation! Where is downtown Lakeland, this site does not have a map or any info as to where Lakeland is? I got to the site via the Segway guided tour site.

Maybe a link to a Google map from/on the find us tab?

    Just a thought, regards David
