Explorations V Children’s Museum will be open for it’s Soar Skyward through Reading Scholastic Book Fair from 6pm-8pm during DLP’s First Friday to be held on March 2, 2012.

Kids need great books to encourage their love of reading and Explorations V is the place to get those books during the Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair will run March 2-8 and will be open 9am-5:30pm with the exception of March 2 when it will be open the noted evening hours.

There will be no admission charged for shopping the book fair.

Explorations V will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with stories, snacks, art and special hands-on “Seussical” fun throughout the day. If you have a favorite Dr. Seuss costume, put in on and come on down! Kids of all ages will have a wonderful time!

All activities are included with museum membership or with the price of admission, which is $7 per person. Senior citizens 65+ are $3.50. Military and teachers with ID are also $3.50. Museum members and children under two are free.

Explorations V Children’s Museum, located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in downtown Lakeland, is once again hosting Biggest $aver family financial literacy classes for children and adults beginning January 16 and running two times a month during January, February and March.

Classes, sponsored by the United Way of Central Florida and the TD Charitable Foundation, will be held January 16 & 30, February 13 & 37 and March 12 & 26 at 5:30pm. Families will learn to budget, plan and save through fun family challenges, give-aways and hands-on financial fun!

They can get holiday creative with decorations, ornaments and gifts, tasty cookies and candies, winter art and science and more! The daily themed camps include hands-on activities, museum exploration, afternoon snacks and outdoor play (weather permitting).

Full day sessions for K-6th grade run from 9am to 5pm and half day sessions run 9am-1pm. Early drop off and late pick up is available for an additional fee.

In conjunction with the Downtown Lakeland Partnership’s annual Holiday Walkabout on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, Explorations V Children’s Museum will be open evening hours from 6pm to 8pm and will offer free admission with the purchase of a minimum of $5 from the Museum Store.

The museum is also offering a Membership Special wherein all new or renewed membership purchased will receive 15 months of membership privileges for the price of 12.
