FLORIDA DANCE THEATRE’S 11thAnnual Summer Youth Dance Camp

Part of the DANCE DIMENSIONS 2 program funded byThe George W. Jenkins Fund from within The Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland Florida Dance Theatre, Polk County’s only professional dance company and training academy, is inviting boys and girls ages 6-10 to an exciting, educational, fun camp. Students will participate in classes including… Ballet, Musical Theatre Jazz, HipHop, Acting, Ethnic Dances, and ArtClasses will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Participants will need to provide their own bag lunches. FDT will provide a morning and an afternoon snack.**This camp is FREE to students who qualify for the Free School Lunch Program **Students that qualify for the reduced lunch program receive a discountSlots are available each week for paying studentsRegular Tuition $175 per week*** 30 students on the school lunch program will be chosen to receive a scholarship for the 2011-2012 season of classes at the Academy of Florida Dance Theatre

You can be a part of the very first national tour of OZ, THE MUSICAL…

“Beyond the rainbow, far from any place you know
where once upon a time, happens on their own
And you can wish upon a star ‘til you turn gray
Click your heel three times a day
You’ll never find a place quite like your home”

Director Todrick D. Hall, of Oprah’s Broadway hit “The Color Purple”, is casting local children ages 6-16 from each tour city to appear in “OZ, the Musical”, a new contemporary musical twist on L. Frank Baum’s classic tale “The Wonderful Wizard of OZ”. Free auditions will be held in each city that the show will perform. Children selected for the project will work and perform with our talented cast of professional actors from New York, L.A. and beyond. This contemporary twist features musical styles ranging from hip-hop to pop to contemporary country. The show is fun for the whole family with pop culture references that kids of all ages will enjoy. To date Todrick D. Hall has worked with thousands of children across the country teaching them the power of music and dance, and ultimately that drams do come true. (This is only the beginning of Todrick D. Hall…”I’m going to change the world one musical at a time, but for now enjoy the story of Oz like you’ve never seen it before, in my very own rendition of L. Frank Baum’s classic tale OZ, THE MUSICAL!”) Come join us on our journey through the magical land of OZ !
