Member Benefits                   updated 4/16/06

Email
- We keep members informed about events happening in Downtown, both DLP sponsored and non-DLP (to the best of our knowledge) as well as other important information concerning Downtown.

- We send announcement emails for our members regarding sales/promos/people & changes, job openings.

- We currently gather email addresses from First Fridays and other events specifically to inform those willing participants of upcoming event and store promos.

Events
- Holiday Walkabout, Spring Walkabout, First Fridays
- All of these events market Downtown as a destination for shopping, dining, entertainment and business. Regardless of whether you business is open during any of these events, the thousands of people who attend them are exposed to your business through your signage. They have been exposed to your location. All businesses are welcome to stay open for all of the events.

Auction/Luncheon
- The luncheon provides businesses networking opportunity.

Meetings
- The DLP general meeting provides members with networking opportunity and information.
- The marketing meetings provide members with a forum for input on how to best market Downtown.

- The Parking meetings provide members with a forum to voice opinions about parking conditions and keep up to date with parking changes in Downtown.

- Board meetings are open to all members to attend.  If you have an issue you would like to go before the board, email us at info@downtownlakelandfl.com.

Community Liason
The DLP had formed relationships with the City of Lakeland, the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, the Polk County Sports Marketing, The Lakeland Center, the Central Florida Development Council, the Lakeland Tigers & Detroit Tigers, The Thunderbolts, The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and other organizations in order to market Downtown Lakeland. The relationships allow members an outlet to effect changes in Downtown.

Co-op advertising
The DLP purchases print & radio advertising and offers co-op opprtunities for DLP members at a rate lower than that business would normally get on their own. Co-op advertising is not only cost effective for the member, but it is also an excellent opportunity to be associated with other Downtown businesses to create awareness of the diverse business in Downtown.

Parking Map
The DLP creates and produces a parking map that is distributed to not only Downtown businesses but other organizations like the Chamber and area churches. The parking map is an excellent marketing tool, showing all retail and restaurants and available parking in Downtown.

Website
The website offers a number of member benefits and has the potential for many more. The website will display a featured member on the home page with a roughly 200 word write up and photo. The membership section of the website will allow searches of the membership by business or category.
