Southeastern University to Provide Career Training to Polk Transition Students

January 27th, 2012 10:44 am | by

On Tuesday, January 31, Southeastern University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team will host more than 60 students from Polk County’s Transition program for a career event called Bridging the Gap.

For the third consecutive year, SIFE will help these students with intellectual disabilities to prepare for interviewing, create a resume, communicate in the workplace, and other necessary career skills. Representatives from Lowe’s Sam’s Club, Goodwill, and Lakeland Regional Medical Center will be on hand to conduct interviews with Transition students. Many students in the Transition program have jobs as volunteers, but the goal of Bridging the Gap is to equip them to take the next step toward having success in paid employment.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Student Activities Center on Southeastern’s campus in Lakeland. For more information, contact the College of Business & Legal Studies at 863.667.5402.
