Welcome and Introductions: Julie Townsend
Treasurer’s report: Julie Townsend – we currently have $47,068.99. We are working on our 2011 budget
Program: Frank McCaulley introduced Colleen Burton, director of Polk Vision
Polk Vision was established in 2004. Its focus is to help Polk County be all it can be.

2010 year to be back in the community – “refresh”, set new priorities, shift around, have sent out a questionnaire, now on face book, twitter, launched focus groups, what do we need to think about for next 20 years?
Area of Focus (see book) each focus has a task force
Sept 21 – forum on County wide transportation, Transit Authority at Polk State College, time- TBA check web site for updates
Become a Vision partner – no cost – keeps you updated
Membership: 210 in 2010 membership kick off Sept 16th at Traders Alley, 210 Pine Street 5:30 – 7:00
We currently have 171 members.
Luncheon: October 6th – Lakeland Center, Gow Fields speaker, entertainment by ISO

First Friday: Aug 6th – Dog Days of Summer
LDDA: Anne Furr – Qualifying for Oct 5th election, 3 year term: Ford Heacock, M.Tomlinson, Chris McAuther, and 1 year term: Eric Belvin, Braxton Wiggs
Sidewalk Signs – downtown only, retail on first floor, sidewalk must be 10ft wide, questions, and call

Geocahce – 400 cards given out, 103 returned. Very positive response, haven’t been downtown in years, like the new stores
Noise Ordnance being review
Way finding moving forward. 40 days for fabrication and installation. Expect to go up in Oct
FSC – partnership with bags for orientation, information given to businesses about how to reach parents
Bumper stickers, window clings, magnets, take to your business and pass out
Bike racks – 2 will be going up in garage
Executive Director: Julie Townsend – we have a new intern, Karla, she starts Monday, expect a call from her. Flyers needed for goodie bags to be launched in fall.
Downtown Dish is out, 15,000 were inserted into The Ledger, and 5,000 handed out
Webisodes – MAX 98.3 host, short 3-5 minutes, getting a lot of hits
Lakeland Center special offer, turn in $100 in downtown receipts for month of Aug and get a free ticket to Todd Oliver.
LPD : Deb Henson – counterfeit bill are everywhere now. They are changing 1’s into 10’s and 5’s into 50’s. They are taking money out of bank envelope to make you think they just got this from bank. Hitting small stores. Be very careful! What is your life worth?
