July 28, 2010

8:10 Called to Order – Ellen Simms

Attending – Julie Townsend, Lynn Dennis, Margaret Stephens, Anne Furr, Jim Nixon, Eric Belvin, Tim Calhoon, Ellen Simms, Tamara Sakagawa

Minutes: Kay Morgan – Approved with corrections

Treasurer’s Report:  Ellen Simms for Jean Bunch – Eric moved for review, Jim seconded

Draft of 2011 budget is out. Brewz Crewz upped our revenue. Increased expenses, adding events, event development marketing, web marketing. The 2011 budget needs to be approved in September.

Membership: Tim Calhoon – Membership kick off September 14th, 210 in 2010 at 210. Bring prospective members, Fresco’s will provide food. Will be asking for DLP members for small gift cards, downtown dollars. We have 171 members.

First Friday: Julie Townsend – Dog Days of Summer. Need a poster? Can you put one up outside downtown?  Pooch Parade – Anne Rye. Dunk Tank – Jim Nixon, w/ Watson Clinic Foundation. SPCA in front of Paint –A-Long. Boxer Rescue. Lakeland Kennel Club.

Webisodes – just made 3rd one, due out soon

Downtown Dish is out. Can you take some to outlying areas? Need story ideas. See Julie.

Brewz Crewz: Eric Belvin – Working on exclusivity- limit tickets to 2,000 to include, General Admission, $30, 400 VIP packages at $50, 100 Platinum at $100.

    VIP Package includes an extra hour with the brewers. Platinum Package includes access to 10 exclusive beers not normally available.

    Logistics – we can only close half of Munn Park. We will need fencing/barricades, extra police officers. We could spread out the event; this brings people in front of all businesses. We will work on waiting time to get into event and more access to bathrooms.

Programs: Frank McCaulley – August 4th – Colleen Burton, Polk Vision. September 1st – Mike LaPan

Luncheon: Lori Powell – October 6th at the Lakeland Center. Lori is working on raffle items

Parking: No Report

LDDA:  Anne Furr – qualifying for elections is this week. Eric Belvin will be filling vacated seat, but still has to run.

    Sidewalk Signs – post card sent about meeting

    Way finding – have drawings, after final approval the signs will be out Sept/Oct

    Noise Ordnance is under review

    Quiet Zones for RR tracks, looking at going over/under tracks

    Geocache ended July 2nd, great comments, good experience, liked friendliness of people downtown, will work on better clues

    Crows – be sure to shut dumpsters, the birds are taking over, help keep our downtown clean.

Presidents Report: Ellen Simms – elections. Frank McCaulley and Jim Nixon want to run again

Executive Director : Julie Townsend – First Friday sponsors, Sept – Mid FL Credit Union, Oct – Polk  County Builders Association. Know of anyone to partner with? $2,500 to sponsor, this is a good value. Contact Julie.

    We have the lease agreement which gives us control of First Friday

CRA – Tamara Sakagawa explained about our funding. We should know something by the 3rd week of Aug.
