SUNFLOWER PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUND GROUND BREAKING
LAKELAND, FL (April 26, 2010) – The groundbreaking ceremony for Sunflower Preschool Playground will take place on Wednesday, April 28 at 8:30 a.m. at Barnett Family Park. Officials will officially break the ground for the construction of this new park with the help from some preschool aged children. Refreshments and children’s entertainment will be part of the ground breaking festivities.
Sunflower Preschool Playground is specifically designed for children 3-5 years old and it will be a welcomed addition to Barnett Family Park on Lake Mirror. The new park will feature age appropriate equipment that provides maximum early childhood developmental and play opportunities. The design of Sunflower Playground includes a bright and colorful pallet of play equipment selected for imagination qualities, the ability to provide physical development and most important, fun!
The development and funding of Sunflower Preschool Playground is modeled after the successful Common Ground Park that continues to provide inclusive play for thousands of children each week. Sunflower Playground will be the second community lead parks project for the City of Lakeland.
The Lakeland Downtown Kiwanis Club and The Lakeland Rotary Club are leading a fundraising campaign in support of this important project. Park construction will start soon after the groundbreaking with the goal to celebrate a December 4th, 2010 grand opening.
Future maintenance of the park will be achieved with a dedicated fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland. The executive committee wants to insure that all interested citizens have a chance to be part of this effort.
