The General Store is proud to announce the addition of Teresa Martinez, Lakeland author, community leader and television personality, to the local offerings of the store. Mrs. Martinez’s latest work “Success in Exile” features stories from 25 Cuban families, many now Lakeland and Polk County residents, and their valiant struggle to flee the island. Written in both English and Spanish, the book also features beautiful color plates of artist Carlos Luna, who illustrates the struggle with his luminous and vivid work. Luna’s work was recently featured by the Polk Museum of Art. The book sells for $29.95 at The General Store.

First Friday, May 7th Mrs. Martinez will be at The General Store from 6-9 for a ”meet and greet” and book signing. Lemay Olano-James, former First Violin for Cuban National Symphony, now with Lakeland ISO, will share his wonderful talent from 6 pm – 8 pm.
