If you’ve ever been curious about bonsai, then this weekend is your opportunity to learn more. Polk Museum of Art is hosting “Beyond the Art” on Saturday, April 17, and this time the theme is The Art of Bonsai. John Petterson, the founding president of the Bonsai Society of Lakeland, will be in the building with several examples of his beautiful plants. The presentation starts at 1pm and is free with regular Museum admission.

Beyond the Art is a series of events organized to highlight influences or cultural items related to a current exhibition at the Museum. The Art of Bonsai is meant to complement the Japanese Textiles & Prints exhibition. Visitors to the event will also be able to explore the exhibition.
