DLP Board Meeting
January 27, 2010
Present: Ellen Simms, Jim Nixon, Randy Andersen, Sandy Serletic, Anne Furr, Jean Bunch, Julie Townsend, Kevin Jones, Dan Stetson, Jim Doig, Lori Powell, Eric Belvin, Kay Morgan
Ellen Simms called the meeting to order at 9:15
Minutes: Kay Morgan, tabled
Treasurers Report: Jean Bunch, tabled
Membership: Tim Calhoon – New members; Community Southern Bank. Julie passed out letters, thank you and bills for us to send to our assigned members. Julie will have pre-made membership packets for us to use and will then follow up with Downtown Dish. For recurring payments, download form.
First Friday: Jim Doig – Feb, Dance the Night Away. Dance Troupes will line Kentucky and will encourage audience participation. There will be a dance fashion show.
March – Oncology on Canvas, Lemon to Bay. Health van will be in Bay St parking lot. Jazz will be played in Munn Park.
Volunteers: Sandy Serletic – no report, she will get with Julie
Downtown at Dusk: Tim Calhooon – Feb 9th, Fresco’s, Vintner’s and Body and Soul
Upcoming events; May 11th and Aug 10th. Tim will check with Combat Karate about hosting. He will also check with “outside” members suggesting that they use the new meeting room to showcase their business.
Programs: Feb 3rd – Jeff Vermeulen with Blue Sky
Luncheon: Lori Powell – the venue is set asking for suggestions for speaker
Parking: Kevin Jones – Easels, laminated information about Free Parking, have the city put them out on Fri and pick up on Mon. Ask Tinsley about using the golf cart. MidFL will cover the cost and will go to community development to get approval then the comm. Will meet to discuss placement.
LDDA: Anne Furr – the CRA meets on the 1st Thur and LDDA on the 2nd Thur. Way finding- waiting for more information, the top 5 have been selected.
Branding, making a template, bumper stickers, prizes for having bumper sticker (?). Banners for Mass to FL and Lemon to? A brochure is being put together for potential business owners talking about life downtown, what is available.
Sun and Fun April 9th, helium balloons, flyover 5:30 and 6pm trying to stir interest in those leaving work, fireworks? Rides? Will get with Jim about parking. Pics on the Promenade will be the same night.
Executive Director: Julie Townsend – how do we feel about membership outside downtown? It gives us more exposure. Ford Heacock, where do we see ourselves in 5 years? Bigger and better! We have a new intern, Sara Pack, a senior at Polk St Collegiate High School. She will be working on the web site calendar. The Downtown Dish Magazine is out. 3rd Wing did the poster and it is out.
President’s Report: Ellen Simms – Lynn Dennis has been asked to be the new board member.
New Members: Potential : New Hope Church, under the leadership of Tim Bagget
