DLP Membership Meeting January 6, 2010
Ellen Simms: meeting called to order at 9:00am with introductions and welcome
Membership: Tim Calhoun – We now have 152 members
Treasurers Report: Jean bunch – We have a $35,183.52. You can now pay on line.
Programs: Frank McCaulley – Feb, Jeff from Blue Sky / USF Poly Tech
Guest: Rick Lilyquist, City of Lakeland – Public Works Department, Downtown commercial Recycling Pilot Program.
There will be weekly pick up on Mon. No cost to merchants. Cost to city? Uncertain. Cost beyond pilot program? Uncertain.
Questions; empty bags? Yes. Only want commodities. Don’t have to remove “window” of envelopes. Bins will be labeled and numbered. If you need help call and give bin number. No cardboard, this still needs to go into cardboard dumpsters. Where are those bins? Not sure. Only plastics #1 and #2, take off lids. Rinse out so as not to contaminate.
There will be block meetings. Watch for e-mail from Anne Furr with time and place. You will receive your key then.
Set up on Jan 18th with pick up starting on Jan 25th.
By 2011 there should be 70% recycling compliance
First Friday: Jim Doig – Feb, Dancing in the Streets. There will be dance companies up and down Kentucky. March – Oncology on Canvas, this is sponsored by Eli Lilly with a $10,000. Prize. There is enough art to line Kentucky.
Brewz Crewz: Eric Belvin – Feb 20th, 6:00-9:00pm only 40 days away. Ticket cost: $40 advance VIP $50 day of, this gets you a t-shirt and private bathroom. $25 advance $35 day of. Designated driver ticket $20. LDDA is main sponsor. There will be food and music. Letter for open container is on file with LPD. This is for 21 and up an ID scanner will be used. This is a beer tasting not a drunk fest and will be contained within Munn Park. We are hoping this will replace our auction.
Downtown Town at Dusk: Randy Anderson – Feb 20 at 5:30 at Fresco’s with Vintners and Body and Soul.
LDDA: Anne Furr – 2010 visit FL, 4th year of Day and Nite. Get your form back by the 15th; there is no cost to you just whatever your discount is. These are put in Outpost 27 and where ever our winter visitors will be. RFP for way finding had 16 responses. This will be short listed. There is money in the CRA budget. Branding, 3rd wing has started working on advertising.
Executive Director: Julie Townsend – need ads for Downtown Dish which will go out mid Jan. Historic Walking Tours are full. Web site has been up-dated with colors to match branding.
President’s Report: Ellen Simms – No Report
New Business: New Member presentation; Flamingo Home Health, a non medical service. They offer in home and residential care. Fairfield Inns and Suites will have a shuttle service to downtown.
Anne Furr explained that fees are collected by downtown businesses and do not purposely exclude businesses outside of downtown.
