DLP Board of Directors Meeting
December 30, 2009
Attending: Ellen Simms, Tim Calhoon, Julie Townsend, Frank McCaulley, Jean Bunch, Jim Doig, Dan Stetson, Sandy Serletic, Lori Powell and Kay Morgan
9:08 meeting called to order by Ellen Simms
Guests: Mike Miller from Third Wing. He will also be joining the DLP and bringing Community Southern
Minutes: motion to accept. Seconded
Treasurer: We still have some unpaid members. Julie will talk to Chrispers,Jim Nixon will also. Julie will talk to Mitchells and Tim will talk to Sugar Rush. Discussion about “letting off” those members who haven’t paid their 2009 dues. It was decided that they still need to be paid.
Dec/Jan are big revenue months with dues being paid.
Frank made a motion to write off uncollected money from the lunch and auction. Sandy seconded. Discussion: there was some confusion at the front door; Julie will contact those who still owe money.
Chair Reports:
Membership: Tim Calhoon: 150 members. New members, 3rd Wing and Flamingo Home Care
Thanks to Julie and Ellen for putting member list together. Julie will send “script” to help us talk to members. Thanks for hooking up twitter to web site.
Possible new member, New Egg(?), a real estate/ re-sale company. Sandy is talking with them.
First Friday: Jim Doig: Jan – No FF, Feb – Dance the Night Away, March – Downtown Un-plugged and Oncology on Canvas.
Brewz Crewz: Eric Belvin: Feb 20, 2010. Shaping up. Streets closing will begin at 2pm. Number of craft beers, Shank and FL Micro with more to come. Music is not secured yet but Julie has a list of interested bands and will let us know soon. There was an article in the Ledger Dec. 30. LDDA is the main sponsor donating $5,000. Elder Point is co-sponsor. Tickets can be bought on-line. This will help us keep a head count and capture e-mail addresses. We have 4 food vendors. We need to keep in mind that this is not a “drunk fest” but a beer tasting. Cost of tickets: VIP $45 in advance, this will get you a t-shirt, private bathroom and a fast pass to the head of the line. Regular tickets are $25 advance and $35 day of event. Designated Driver ticket is $20 there will be NA beer. Munn Park has been reserved and will be closed off with “snow” fencing. An ID swiper will be used to assure an age of 21. NO MINORS. A balloon archway at entrance on Main and Tenn. Jim Doig suggested putting signs up to promote all of downtown. Will there be a DLP table? Pass out Downtown Dish? The DLP web site has a link for ticket sales. The new logo will be introduced.

Downtown at Dusk: Randy Andersen: Feb 9th at Fresco’s with Vintners starting at 5:30pm
Programs: Frank McCaulley: Jan – Rick Lilyquist, City of Lakeland, recycling program. Feb – Blue Sky, USF PolyTech. March – Networking, 90 sec for each member to talk about their business.
Luncheon: Lori Powell: working on theme, music

President’s Report: Ellen Simms: Jean Bunch checked and Lynn Dennis is willing to join the board taking Dr Hatton’s seat.
New Business: What rental spaces are available? Jimmy Johns, a sandwich/deli is moving in under the lofts. The hookah bar has been approved. Rumor, Mid FL won bid for the federal building. Frescos will be joining the Farmers Market on Saturdays selling homemade granola. Fancy Flea is May 1st. Women’s show is Feb 6th and 7th
