What is LDDA?

Kryger Park/Lake Mirror Tower
The Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) is a special taxing district created by the State Legislature in 1977. Property owners within the boundaries of the LDDA pay an additional 1.8744 in millage, providing the basis for LDDA’s budget. Six Board Members are elected by the Downtown property owners and electors along with one City Commissioner appointed by the Mayor. Activities include marketing efforts and event support, pilot projects such as container gardens and the renovation of Preservation Alley, and the oversight of streetscape, brick cross walks and residential development in Downtown. The LDDA serves as the Advisory Board to the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area. In addition, The Downtown Farmers Curb Market is a project of the LDDA, operating every Saturday from 8 to 2 and every Wednesday from 11 to 4 in the plaza of the Curtis Peterson building, 200 N. Kentucky Avenue.
